Three people charged in Lyon's sister case appear in court

BEDFORD (WSLS 10) Three people are charged in connection to  the Lyon sister's  appeared in  Bedford County General District Court earlier today.

Katherine and Sheila Lyon went missing from a Maryland mall 40 years ago and it is believed they were eventually brought to Bedford County.

Gladys Stangee, Amy Welch-Johnson, and Leslie Engleking were in court today facing different charges.

Stangee and Welch-Johnson are charged with obstruction of justice.

Stangee is sentenced to 30 days in jail with all of that suspended if she cooperates with the commonwealth  as they investigation moves forward.

Welch-Johnson is sentenced to 12 months in jail with the possibility of 90 days in jail suspended she too cooperates with the commonwealth attorney.

The court doesn't have to suspend any sentence it was trying to create an incentive for her to tell the truth which is what our goal is", says Commonwealth's attorney Randy Krantz.

Meanwhile Engleking acknowledged there is probable cause to find him guilty or that he had committed the offense.

He waived his right to a preliminary hearing and his case will go before a regular grand jury in December for indictment.
