WWLP – SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The busiest travel day of the year is just over a week away and with the holidays quickly approaching it's also a time when many people take bus trips for holiday activities.

However, after the attacks in Paris, many are changing, and even canceling holiday travel plans. The business travel coalition conducted a survey following the attacks. They found many companies, universities and different organizations are thinking about changing travel plans.

The survey found that 20 percent of people are likely to cancel their travel plans to France for some time.

Travelers we spoke with today said they're not canceling their plans but it does change how they travel.

"It has affected how I see the world but I can't say it's affected my plans really. I try to be on the lookout for anyone suspicious in any way or giving off a strange vibe," said Brandon Hardwick from Hartford, CT.

Locally, state police have boosted security. One western Massachusetts resident told 22News she feels safe here at home and in other big cities in the U.S.

"It hasn't really affected me, I go to New York about once a month and I'm still traveling, I'm pretty confident. I feel safe here," said Gabriella Holland of East Longmeadow.

For travelers who did want to cancel plans to go to France, many airlines offered passengers a chance to cancel for a voucher in the amount paid for the ticket.
