LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - The athletic director at E.C. Glass High School announced he will retire immediately after being arrested for public intoxication Wednesday.

Lt. Booker with Lynchburg Police said 57-year-old Terrance Lee Brown was arrested November 11 around 9:45 p.m. for public intoxication. It happened in the 3000 block of Hill Street in Lynchburg.

According to Cindy Babb, Media Relations Coordinator with Lynchburg City Schools, Brown was hired into the system July 1, 2015. She was unable to say if Brown was arrested while at the high school.

Online court records show Brown had a misdemeanor charge of DWI, first offense, with a blood alcohol content greater than 0.20-percent - more than twice the legal limit. Brown was found guilty and received a restricted license and an ignition interlock device in his vehicle.

Babb said the Lynchburg City Schools does not generally comment on personnel matters, but said the previous charge, which happened in June 2015, did show up on a background check run prior to his employment.
