ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Local investors are looking for the next "big idea" in the Star City, and Thursday, 20 local entrepreneurs looking to make their big idea become a reality got the chance to make their pitch.

Just like the show "Shark Tank", Roanoke's version "Star Tank" is connecting people who have ideas with investors who want to help them get off the ground.

Jonathan Preedom of Christiansburg is one of those entrepreneurs. He presented for now what is known as the "archery project" which will help bow hunters more easily find deer that have been hit.

"It's a tracking device that I'm looking to put on an arrow that will release itself and implant itself into large game, to then allow the hunter to locate it," Preedom said.

A project he says won't happen without the help of investors.

"It's tough, because now you have to grow that business, you can only go so far," Preedom said.

He says it has gained the support of the public, and he hopes one of the investors will help his idea take flight.

Even if all the entrepreneurs don't make deals with investors, they'll still receive valuable business advice at the CoLab.
