Tips come in about Missing New York woman believed to be in Roanoke area

ROANOKE (WSLS) - Tips continue to come in about a woman who's been missing for nearly 21 years. Renee Lamanna went missing in 1994 and recently there were reported sightings of a woman believed to be her in Roanoke.

Searchers said a truck driver reported seeing a woman who fit Lamanna's description along Route 116 in Roanoke. Fliers and recent media attention about the missing woman have led to new leads.

"Renee moves around on the street, she pretty much lives on the street," said Mark Eggeman, Search and Rescue Coordinator. People drive by her everyday, everyday, probably right now someone is looking at Renee and has no idea she is a missing woman."

In recent days, crews said they've received tips about Lamanna but the missing person's search keeps coming up empty. Authorities urge anyone who possibly sees Renee to contact police with as many details as possible.

"Tthe details of what she was wearing, even paying attention to her demeanor, how she looked and acted" said Eggeman. "If they spoke to her, how she responded."

As news of Lamanna's case continues to spread, people in the Roanoke area said they are keeping an eye out for people who fit her description and any other missing person's.

Police said if you think you see Renee Lamanna or any other missing person, response time is key. It's important to contact authorities as quick as possible and provide as many details as you can.
