PULASKI (WSLS 10) - A leading traffic safety group now says every child on a school bus should wear a seat belt.

This new recommendation came from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It says research shows three-point seat belts can help prevent injuries and save lives. The change could also help teach kids about the importance of using seat belts in personal vehicles.

Local school administrators and bus drivers said there are a lot of unanswered questions. They are concerned about things like how much this would cost, and how kids would get out of their seat belts in case of an emergency.

Local school leaders said they hope more research is done to address some of these concerns before any mandate is handed down.
