Blacksburg (WSLS 10) Though Boston College's record of 3-5 may not show it, the Eagles have one of the best defenses in the ACC. They rank first in total defense, scoring defense, rushing defense and redzone defense. Not to mention first in sacks. The Hokies know they have to bring their "A" game to Boston to come out on top.

"This Boston College defense is extremely sound, well coached and talented. Multiple guys on their defense that'll play on Sundays if you look at the ACC statistics I think they're the first in everything, it's not even close between them and second place teams, so it'll be a big challenge for us," said Associate head coach Shane Beamer.

Michael Brewer who was injured in their season opener to Ohio State, made his first start after being out for weeks. "I think they're only giving up 60 yards per game in the run game, so they make you one dimensional and then they're good enough in the secondary, they can mix it up and pressure with their front four and create some turnovers. So they're very problematic defense but  we got to have a good week of preparation," Brewer said.

With a record of 3-5 the Hokies are off to one of the worst seasons they've seen in years and with the sudden retirement of seat Steve Spurrier and the firing of Al Golden, Frank Beamer was asked about his future at Virginia Tech.

"The only thing I'm really concerned about right now is Boston College and that's the only thing on my mind," he answered. "I can tell you the second part of that, is whatever's good for Virginia Tech, what's best for Virginia Tech, is what I'm into. I've always felt that way and always will and that's it."

The Hokies face Boston College Saturday at 12:30pm.
