Work begins on WSLS 10 Home for the Holidays 2015 Habitat for Humanity project

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - WSLS 10 is once again teaming up with Habitat for Humanity, alongside nine sponsors, to build a home for a deserving family this holiday season.

Preparations for the Home for the Holidays build are underway. Thursday, Total Action for Progress Youth Build started work on the basement, spreading gravel for concrete to be laid on Friday.

The team will be working on the project for two weeks. Youth Build construction instructor Joey Snead says it's an opportunity that teaches youth to give back to their community.

"We want for the community to know that people care and that we want everybody to be proud of where they live and feel safe in a clean neighborhood," Snead said.

The home is located on 1229 Moorman Avenue in Roanoke.
