The non-profit hopes to find those kids a mentor by December but more volunteers are needed.
Many of the added students are part of the Oliver Hill House after-school program.
Others are in the school or community based programs.
"It's hard for the kids who were on the wait list because they are excited about the possibility of ‘Bigs,'" explained Jessica Turley, marketing coordinator.
"Maybe they know people, other friends who have ‘Bigs,' so it's really important that we get the map stop as quickly as possible."
Big Brothers Big Sisters hopes to serve 400 students across southwest Virginia by the end of 2015.
