over the course of four classes, students will learn everything from diagnosing a patient to the research that goes into finding the best cure.

doctors say the goal is to improve transparency so the community is more aware of what goes on behind the emergency room doors.

David Trinkle, Roanoke's Vice Mayor says, "Hopefully by teaching them what we teach our medical students, they'll sort of have a better understanding of how to inter-relate and communicate with their position and their healthcare team after they take the course.

This Mini Medical School meets four consecutive Tuesdays, including October 13, 20, and 27 and November 3. Each session is from 6:00 to 8:00; doors will open at 5:30. The cost of instruction for all four evenings is $20. Registration is required.
