Last year, the mission gave out almost a thousand coats.

The Key Clubs at a number of Roanoke City, Roanoke County and Salem schools are competing to see who can collect the most.

You can make a difference helping families stay warm too.

Simply drop off new or gently used winter coats at the Roanoke Rescue Mission's 4th Street Donation Center at 421 4th Street in Roanoke Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Donations can also be left at Thrift 460 at 3425 Orange Ave. in Roanoke Monday through Saturday 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
