Man arrested in connection with alleged rape in Roanoke listed as fugitive in Botetourt County

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A man arrested for an alleged rape in Roanoke over the weekend has been transferred to Botetourt County on separate charges in a different case.

Matthew Chandler McFann, 28, was transferred Sunday, October 11 from the Roanoke City Jail to the Botetourt County Jail on probation violation and failure to appear; contempt charges - which are both felonies.

McFann was previously arrested in 2013 in Botetourt County on distributing and conspiring to distribute imitation controlled substances. He was sentenced to 2 years with one year and 11 months suspended in that case.

Roanoke City police arrested McFann in connection with an alleged rape following an incident early Sunday morning.

Officers said the victim, an adult woman, told police she agreed to give McFann a ride to a friend's house. The victim told police McFann sexually assaulted her inside her vehicle in a parking lot located along the 200 block of Williamson SE.

McFann was arrested and taken to Roanoke City Jail before being transferred to Botetourt County.

The victim was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.
