ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - An organization that helps women in their time of need now needs help to stay open.
The Transitional Options for Women facility opened in Roanoke about a year ago. Organizers said it's a safe place for females released from prisons or jails to get help getting back on their feet.

Dorothy Owsley started the non-profit organization. She said she has applied for grants and used her own money to get the facility up and running. Yet, the money hasn't been enough to cover thousands of dollars in rent and bills.
Organizers hope the community will help keep the doors open so they can continue to improve women's lives.
"There is no amount too small, everything adds up and to come forth not just with money but with their support" said Owsley. "They never know when somewhere in the future they may need us."
On Saturday the organization will hold a yard sale to help raise money for the Transitional Options for Women facility. The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1729 Patterson Avenue.
