ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Roanoke County police said officers arrested the suspects seen on surveillance video at a residence in the southwest part of the county Friday.

Roanoke County police said a man and woman pulled into the driveway of the residence off of Penn Forest Blvd in the south part of the county around 10:30 a.m. Friday. The two were pictured on surveillance camera at the location. The incident happened in broad daylight while the homeowner's daughter  was asleep inside. She said the family dog woke her up.

"I heard barking" said Abby Broughton. "So I got up and {the dog} was standing in my door with her hair up on her back, backing up against me not letting me out."

The  homoeowners believe the mixed-breed rescue dog was trying to protect Abby from two suspected thieves. Police said entry was forced into the home at that address. Security cameras captured clips of a male and a female.

"I saw the woman and just lost it and called the police and started screaming to the police 'there is someone in my house, there is someone in my house'," said Abby Broughton.

The Broughtons have taken extra safety precautions to protect their home. They continue to take inventory of what was stolen. Homeowner Matt Broughton said his family is happy to know the most precious item is safe.

"I don't care about stuff" said Matt. "I'm a dad. I care about my daughter."
