The suit goes on to explain the importance of grant money to keep the center running. Northwest shut down in September, a day after the board fired its most recent executive director, Jaqueline Wiggins, who raised concerns about the boards' handling of its finances.

The board is asking for more than $650,000 in compensatory and punitive damages, as well as interest and attorney's fees.
