3 ships delayed by hurricane set to deploy from Virginia

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Three ships whose deployment was delayed by Hurricane Joaquin are getting ready again to head out to sea.

The Navy says more than 4,000 sailors and marines are scheduled to depart Tuesday.

Two ships will deploy from Naval Station Norfolk and a third will deploy from Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.

The scheduled seven-month deployment will support crisis response and maritime security and other operations.
