Williamsburg 21-year-old dies in Pittsylvania Co. crash

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A Williamsburg man died and a Kents Store man was injured in a crash on Highway 29 Sunday, September 20.

Virginia State Police said it happened around 5:20 p.m., 1.5 miles north of Franklin Turnpike.

Troopers said a southbound 2012 Hyundai Elantra, driven by 21-year-old Kurt Hilburger of Williamsburg, ran off the left side of the road, into the median and into the northbound lanes. The Hyundai hit by a northbound 2003 Toyota Avalon driven by a 33-year-old man from Kents Store.

Hilburger was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He died at the hospital. The driver of the Avalon was wearing his seat belt and was taken to the hospital with injuries.

The crash remained under investigation.
