Dozens participate in Life Chain rally in Roanoke

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - People in Roanoke took part in the "Life Chain" event, a national effort to raise awareness about abortions.

On Sunday, pastors and people in the community came together to hold signs with "pro-life" messages. Some people prayed during the event.

The protest took place at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Williamson Road. Roanoke County Board of Supervisor Al Bedrosian participated. He said it's important to raise awareness about the issue.

"We think it's very important, you can't keep killing babies in this country. We've got to really solve this problem and bring hope, there's other alternatives we have the Blue Ridge Women's Center is here to help," Bedrosian said.

Nearly 75 people attended the Sunday's event.
