People in Danville continued their day as normal.

Folks went the YMCA which sits on the Dan River and participated in their workout, but many are glad the storm quickly passed.

"I felt pretty good that we might be in a safe palce, I know the YMCA is close to the water, but I was skeptical because the water gets close to the lot but it was ok," Cristy Luck a YMCA member said.

Campus Pastor of Dan River Church Scott Randlett, said members prepared by removing the furniture inside, as well placed sandbags in front to keep the water out.

"We filled over 1600 sandbags, boared up the church and had 100 different people helping us from several different churches," Randlett said.

Assistant Fire Chief Steve Dishman said public works crews are working 12 hour shifts to deal with fallen trees and power lines, but they will keep a close eye to the water level.

"We'll continue to watch that during the entire event because that's the biggest impact we might have which is flooding," Dishman said.
