BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - The NRV Wives Behind the Line group in the New River Valley came together Thursday night at Grace of Life Church to prepare bags of snacks for officers in the New River Valley as they work their shifts this weekend in the upcoming rains and floods.

During the flooding on Tuesday, organizers said officers were so busy that they were not able to take a break for lunch or dinner, much less have anything to snack on to help get them through.

The NRV Wives Behind the Line wanted to make sure that would not be the case again this weekend.

The ladies, who are wives of police officers all though out the New River Valley, rallied together to make sure that not only the men and women that their husbands work with would be taken care of, but also their husbands fellow officers though out the NRV.

The end result was 115 bags prepared along with 25 cases of water and five cases of Gatorade. These items were delivered to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Virginia Tech Police Department, Blacksburg Police Department and the Virginia State Police satellite office.

Members of the Christiansburg Police Department Citizens Support Group prepared the items for the Christiansburg Police Department.
