ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Dr. Pepper Park staff are preparing for the worst with this weekend's flood potential.

With forecasts showing anywhere from 2 inches of rain to 10 inches, Dr. Pepper Park management has made the decision to take down the performance stage.

"The stage was originally going to stay up all season because it's quite difficult to take apart, we certainly don't want to lose it to the river" said Elliot Broyles, Vice President of Sponsor Hounds and Dr Pepper Park, in a written statement, released on Friday. "We've already begun taking the bracing and railings down and we have staff that will begin taking the stage deck sections out Friday morning."

With a few people the process should take two to three hours.

The next event at Dr. Pepper Park is Throwback Thursdays on October 8 featuring Guns n' Roses Tribute Appetite for Destruction. Officials say that concert is still expected to happen and staff will work as long as it takes to get the site ready again if it does flood.

Dr, Pepper Park is Roanoke's newest event venue. The stage and park has hosted festivals, concerts and event series throughout the Summer. There are five more events scheduled this fall. The event season at Dr Pepper Park ends on October 30, 2015.
