SALEM (WSLS 10) - Flooding continues to impact travel in southwest Virginia with approximately 80 roads closed overnight.
The Virginia Department of Transportation responded to numerous downed trees Tuesday and last night and will continue work Wednesday to repair damaged roads.

Many roads currently are closed due to high water, and motorists are reminded never to drive around barricades in place to block off roads. Flood waters will need to recede in some areas before roads can reopen or repairs can be made.
Eastbound and westbound traffic is alternating using a single open lane on a three-mile section of Route 58 between Route 640 (Central Academy Road) and the scenic overlook atop Lovers Leap Mountain. Drivers should expect delays on Route 58 as pilot trucks and flaggers are controlling traffic.
With road conditions constantly changing, citizens are reminded that VDOT provides the most up-to-date information available about flooded roads at www.511Virginia.org. To access the list of flooded roads, look for the text views section of the site and search under road conditions.
To report downed trees or debris on state maintained roads, citizens can contact VDOT's customer service center at 1-800-367-7623. For emergencies, dial 911.
