PATRICK COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The flood waters washed away a piece of history in Patrick County.
The Woolwine community was hit hard with heavy rain and the water rose quickly - wiping away the Bob White covered bridge.

Walter Weaver built the bridge in 1921 and designated it as a Virginia Historic Landmark. The bridge was no longer in use but for many years it was the only way to get to Smith River Church of the Brethren.
People in town say they are shocked and saddened to see that the bridge is gone.
"Bridge has been here forever and to see it wash away like this, you can't see any of it downstream, and many floods we've had over the year '85 and '79 and it was still there," said David Ramsey, resident.
The bridge was also a popular spot for lovers and known locally as the kissing bridge because it was hard to see inside.
