BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - You can blame it on the weather. You can blame it on some bad penalty calls, but the Hokies are not making any excuses about their loss to East Carolina, rather using it as motivation as they enter ACC play Saturday against Pittsburgh.

"The conference games are what are important, you know, like I said and I'll go right back if you can win your non-conference games, you got a chance to win a national championship. If you don't, any time that you win puts you in a better position for a bowl game," said Hokie's head coach Frank Beamer.

Associate head coach and Running backs coach Shane beamer explained, "we're starting fresh 0-0 going into the ACC, we try to win every single game around here and prepare for East Carolina and Furman and Purdue just as we do Ohio State and to not win all four of these games and be sitting here at 2-2 is certainly something we're not excited about, but we are excited about returning here to Blacksburg."

Brenden Motley led the team in rushing yards in their contest against ECU, this week the coaches hope to utilize their running backs more, but It'll be tough against one of the best defenses in the country.

"There the 17th rated defense in America, they stop the run and they've only given up 92 yards a game rushing, they've given up a little under 200 passing. They get off the field and 28.6 percentage on third down which is outstanding," said offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler.

The Hokies host Pittsburgh in Lane Stadium Saturday at noon.
