Jackknifed tractor-trailers shut down section of Rt. 220 in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A tractor trailer accident is blocking a section of Route 220 near Boones Mill.

The crash happened at 9:53 a.m. Tuesday along US-220, in the vicinity of Winding Way Road, Rt. 1611N/S in Franklin County.

Virginia State Police say two jackknifed tractor-trailers are causing the issues. It is unclear at this time when all of the lanes will open.

Troopers say there were a substantial back-ups.

Currently, the north right lane and south left lane are closed.

State police say heavy precipitation was a factor in the crash.

On US-220 in the County of Franklin, in the vicinity of Winding Way Rd; Rt. 1611N/S (Franklin County), motorists can expect potential delays due to a tractor trailer accident. The north right lane is closed. The south left lane is closed.
