SALEM (WSLS 10) - An emergency shelter was set up at the Salem Civic Center amid voluntary evacuations due to rain.
The Red Cross said it was opening a shelter Tuesday in Salem at the Civic Center due to flooding in some high risk areas. Evacuation by residents was not mandatory, but was highly recommended.

Your Red Cross was providing cots, blankets, snacks, water, and dinner. Crews were watching areas throughout the region and in constant contact with Emergency Management at each locality.
