BEDFORD (WSLS 10) - Nearly two dozen investigators, some of which traveled as far as Pennsylvania, are learning new ways to figure out what can cause a house fire. It's part of a continuing advanced fire education program in Bedford. 22 investigators are taking a two-and-a-half day training course at the new facility.

Organizers said it's important, because electrical wiring in homes is changing. And, understanding how it is installed could help solve more fire investigations.

"Our homes, our business and our structures and what we put into them, whether it's manufactured or whether it's a type of utility, that's every changing," said Bedford County Fire Chief Jack Jones Jr. "So, as we get nicer homes, homes with more electrical controls and more conveniences in them, there are more opportunities for our investigators and our fire marshals to have to deal with."

The fire chief said overall the course has been successful. It wraps up tomorrow.
