ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A familiar face is leaving the Science Museum of Western Virginia.

Jim Rollings is retiring after four years at the museum in our area and 32 years total in science museums. During his time at the museum, the museum moved from inside the Tanglewood Mall back to Center in the Square in downtown Roanoke. New exhibits include a children's area.

"The Science Museum in the past couple of years is a completely different science museum from the one that opened here in 1983 and we will take advantage of that difference," said Rollings.

He hopes more exhibits will be added in the future, including a planetarium that is currently in the works.

Rollings says since the science museum is a nonprofit they're always struggling to make ends meet and there are never enough resources to do all of the things they strive for, especially for schoolchildren.

As he looks forward to retirement, he hopes everyone will continue to support the museum.
