Northside High School gears up for 5th annual Pinkout

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Northside High School's colors are green and gold, but school leaders are asking football fans to help turn the sidelines pink.

The Athletic Booster Club is gearing up for the 5th annual "Pinkout." Sponsorship of jerseys for the event, which will be customized with a cancer survivor's name on the back, are still available.

"Pinkout" organizers said they hope to see all 55 jerseys sponsored and so far only 22 are spoken for.

"One in eight women in this game in their lifetime will be diagnosed with breast cancer. That's an astounding number and that affects everyone," explained Donna Compton, with the Northside Athletic Booster Club.

The club's goal is to raise $2,000 for the Roanoke chapter of "Relay for Life."

For information about sponsoring one of the jerseys, contact Donna Compton at (540) 793-5294. Sponsorships are $50 each.
