TRADITIONS: LCA welcomes new students, looks forward to Seminole District play

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) – While LCA hit the field against an out-of-state school Friday night, that won’t be the case in the future.

Families lined-up sporting their LCA gear for this year’s new student BBQ.

In its fourth year the event gives new parents an opportunity to meet one another and chat with administrators.

“I thought it was a great opportunity to meet other parents, because we don’t know anybody really,” explained mom Michelle Nichols.

“I wanted to show my appreciation for all the school has done for me as a new student, making me feel welcome here,” Maria Anderson said, eighth grader.

Only a few weeks in Maria says, she already feels like family here.

“Especially with the whole Bulldog nation thing, the Bulldog’s everywhere so it really feels like I’m being welcomed into it,” she said.

As a new addition to the Seminole district the Bulldogs will stay closer to home next year.

“It runs all gametes. People just think it’s a football issue. This is all our girl sports all the way down to the JV level, having to drive by 8 or 9 schools on the way out of town in the middle of the week,” said John Patterson, LCA superintendent.

As LCA educates future athletes they’ll have more time in their back yards.
