VINTON (WSLS 10) - A local dance studio is getting nationwide attention for dancers' efforts to raise money for breast cancer research and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Floyd Ward School of Dance Artistic Director, Jill Graybill said she got a call from a nurse at Lewis Gale asking for help making a Pink Glove Dance video. The video would be entered in a national contest and a winner would be chosen through online voting.

"We think dance is an inspiration for anyone fighting any type of battle whether it's emotional or health wise," said Graybill.

So the school enlisted the help of breast cancer survivors, fire fighters, and LewisGale staff to create the video. And after lots of hard work, they got to see the finished product.

"It was really exciting to see us in the video and the breast cancer survivors," explained 6th grade dancer, Remi Figart.

"I was like ‘woah that's a lot of pink'," 5th grade dancer, Allyson Foster said.

The video marks the third year LewisGale hospital entered the contest and it's the only healthcare system in Virginia competing. Voting for the Pink Glove Dance Competition 2015 ends Wednesday, September 23, 2015.
