Shelor says he tries to make a difference for his hometown Patrick County.

"I try to help you know within the county when I can playing different benefits and so forth, but also talk about it and promote the crooked road, promote the music, promote as many things as I can about Southwest Virginia while I'm out in other parts of the country," Shelor explained.

Shelor and the Lonesome River Band will play the Harvester Music Center in Rocky Mount on Saturday, October 3rd.
