(WSLS 10) – Some voters in Campbell County will receive new voter registration cards this week. The new cards will show the location of new polling places in Altavista and Evington. The Altavista precinct moves to the Altavista Fire Company with the Evington Precinct moving to the Evington Volunteer Fire Department.

If you work or live in Lynchburg, the Police Department wants to hear from you. It is conducting a community survey to see if you are satisfied with job it’s doing and safety in the city. You can give your opinion now through November 20th.

Today is the last day of the Hillsville Flea Market. Over the four days of this event, nearly half a million people travel to Carroll County to make this one of the largest events in the southeast. You see many dealers and traders. The market comes to an end at 4 p.m.

Commonwealth Catholic Charities hosts the Labor of Love 1 mile, 5K and 8K today. Proceeds from the event benefits the group and Saint Francis House. Awards will be given out to top finishers overall and by age group. Registration starts at $15. The race begins at 8 a.m. on Reserve Avenue.

Buena Vista holds its 45th annual Labor Day Festival today. The event is a Who’s Who of Virginia politics. The day starts with a 5K at 8:30 a.m. That’s followed by a parade through town at 9:30 a.m. then the political speeches start at 11 a.m. There will also be food and two stages with music from many genres. Fireworks will end the night at 8:30 p.m.
