FOOD CHALLENGE: Week 2 exceeds expectations with Giles and Christiansburg

(WSLS 10) – Week one of the WSLS 10 and Feeding America Southwest Virginia Food Challenge resulted in an amazing amount of food donations, but week two took the contest to a new level.

Giles High and Christiansburg took on the food drive with a mission to stock the shelves of southwest Virginia food banks - and they delivered!

Christiansburg students and staff raised an impressive 1,002 pounds of food during the week of September 1. But students and staff in Giles came out victorious in a big way, raising 3,337 pounds of non-perishable food items!

The Giles/Christiansburg face-off in week two resulted in a total of 4,339 pounds for hungry families.

Congratulations to both schools for making a difference for the southwest Virginia community!
