Man pulls gun and tries to fire at victim on Valley Metro bus

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A man is in jail after pulling out a firearm during an altercation with another man on a Valley Metro bus.

Roanoke City police said it happened around 8 in the morning near 12th Street and Rugby Boulevard NW.

After arguing, 68-year-old Tyrone Lee allegedly pulled a gun on another man. The driver stopped and evacuated all passengers off the bus, including the victim.

Officers said they later found out Lee tried to fire the gun inside the bus, but the gun malfunctioned. When the officer arrived, he found Lee outside of the parked Valley Metro bus pointing the gun at the victim.

The officer said he told Lee to drop his handgun. After hesitation, he dropped the handgun. The officer took Lee into custody without further incident.

Lee was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated attempted malicious wounding. He was taken to Roanoke City Jail.
