Funeral held Thursday for former Blacksburg Fire Dept. Chief Frank Teske

BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - The Blacksburg Fire Department announced one of their own passed away this week.

Former Blacksburg Fire Dept Chief Frank Teske died on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at Lewis Gale Hospital Montgomery. He was 79 years old.

Frank was a veteran of the US Navy and a 1962 graduate of Virginia Tech.  Frank was a member of the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad from 1971 until 1984.  He served as the Blacksburg Fire Chief from 1980 until 1983, was a line officer with the Blacksburg Rescue Squad and was one of the first EMT instructors in the State of Virginia.

Frank was also the owner of Teske Leasing and was a real estate developer in the Blacksburg Community for many years.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg.
