BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - The Virginia Tech Rescue Squad announced Tuesday on their Facebook page they were recently awarded a grant through the Virginia Department of Health's Office of Emergency Services.

This particular grant came from the Rescue Squad Assistance Fund and allowed VTRS to obtain another Phillips Cardiac Monitor.

Members with VTRS said this new addition will allow them to have one of these monitors on all three of their ambulances.

Most importantly, they said it will vastly improve the ability to offer Advance Life Support via cardiac monitoring for patients in need.

"Lt. Ganesh, we hope you never need to use this monitor, but we sure are glad you have it available if you do!" said Virginia Tech Police's Facebook page.
