Second suspect arrested after shooting incident in Roanoke Sunday

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Roanoke police said Wednesday the second suspect in a shooting incident on Mountain Avenue SE Sunday evening was arrested.

Jon Dumire, 22 was arrested Wednesday afternoon. He was taken to the Roanoke City Jail. Ricky Akers, 26, was arrested Monday night. He was held at the Roanoke City Jail.

The shooting incident happened near 6th Street and Mountain Ave. SE Sunday. An officer said he heard several shots being fired just before 6 p.m. The officer went to the 600 block of Mountain Ave., where he saw two white males running away. The officer pursued on foot before losing sight of them.

Responding officers set up a perimeter and found Gregory Davis, 28, at a home in the 600 block of Mountain Ave. Officers said Davis had a minor wound on his leg, but refused medical treatment. Officers were unsure if the injury was a result of gunfire.

Officers were told Davis was in an altercation with two men, 22-year-old Jon Dumire and 26-year-old Ricky Akers.

Dumire and Akers face charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and brandishing a firearm.
