ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS10) - Hundreds of children took a plunge to help find a cure for diabetes. Kids slid down a 200 foot water slide at the Hidden Valley Country Club on Saturday.

The event was organized by John Cheryl Facciana and it benefits the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. They hope to help find a cure for all children including their own, Ben and Bella, who were diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

They're glad the Fort Lewis Fire Department Volunteered and everyone has come to support their cause.

"It's important that people know that type 1 is often missed diagnosed a lot times kids are presented with symptons that look like the flu, so we hope not only to raise money but awareness," Cheryl Facciana said.

Facciana said they raised $40,000 last year.
