Dozens compete for the annual Highland Games Competition

SALEM (WSLS10) - Dozens of competitors dressed up in kilts at Green Hill Park in Salem for the Highland Games Competition.Male and Female athletes competed in Scottish games like hammer throw or caber toss which is the ability to completely flip a 22 foot wooden pole.

Organizers said the money raised goes toward the non profit organization Warrior 360 which helps disabled veterans and their families needs.

"The Roanoke area and the Salem area has been extremely welcoming, their arms are wide open, actually walking over here. one of my brothers in arms who is missing a leg said you know that I decided that I'm not going home, I'm going to stay and live here because of how excellent and awesome everyone is," Mark Little a competitor said.

Organizers said this is the seventh year for the Highland Games Competition.
