BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10)  – What's that smell? It's Stinky Phil!

The corpse flower at the Virginia Tech Jacob. A. Lutz Garden Complex is starting to bloom bringing with it its signature stench of rotting flesh and a parade of curious onlookers.

The plant only blooms once every five years and will hold its 3-4 foot-flower and signature stink for the next 48 hours or so before it goes dormant again.

The greenhouse will be open to the public 1-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Normal hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday. It is located to the left of the Hahn Horticulture Garden.

Follow the status of Stinky Phil on the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences' Twitter and Facebook pages.
