ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The community is grieving the loss of WDBJ7's Alison Parker and Adam Ward. Organizers of Thursday night's vigil said the goal was to honor the victims who lost their lives.

Hundreds of people gathered before the makeshift memorial in front of WDBJ7 studios in Roanoke.

"There needs to be more peace and tightness in our whole community," Jennifer Chumbley, who attended the vigil said.

Organizers said after Wednesday's tragic shooting they want to address local leaders on gun violence.

"We need to deal with those emotions. We need to deal with those opportunities to come together and find out how we can address the issue of gun violence," Eddy Seay, one organizer said.

Leaders, like Attorney General Mark Herring, attended the vigil. He said now is the time to come together.

"The important thing is that we think it's going away. We need to come together and this time do something about it. It's been eight years since the Virginia Tech tragedy and here we are again, it has to stop," Herring said.
