Child Advocacy Center needs more funding to serve NRV

(WSLS 10) - The Child Advocacy Center of the New River Valley is asking for help to keep its doors open.

The organization helps juvenile abuse victims and their families, and it is funded by both the federal and state governments.

It typically takes about $100,000 a year to run all the programs. This year, it is $35,000 short.

That is why representatives recently asked the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors to pitch in, and they are scheduled to make stops at more local governments in the NRV.

The New River Valley team has interviewed more than 320 children since it formed in 2012.
