ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The Danville United Community Relations Coalition meets tonight to elect new officers. The group was started in 2013 to bring together community members and groups to develop strategies and share information to make the city a more tolerant, friendly and welcoming community. The meeting starts tonight at seven at Holbrook Street Presbyterian Church.

If you live in Montgomery County, the Park and Recreation Department wants to hear from you. It is conducting a survey about the needs of the community. The data will be used to develop the departments vision and goals for the next 20 years. You have until next month to fill out the online questionnaire.

Solarize Montgomery holds a information session tonight. The program makes solar energy sources affordable to homeowners and businesses in the county. The meeting starts at 6:30 at the Blacksburg Motor Company Building. If you want to join the program, you'll need to sign up by the new deadline of August 31st.

If you're trying to figure out how to do something on your phone, tablet or computer and just can't get it to work, then you can head to the Hollins Branch Library in Roanoke County today. From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. there will be a Devices Q & A session where you can get your questions answered.

Roanoke County Supervisor Al Bedrosian holds a community meeting tonight. You will have the chance to ask questions and voice your concerns. It's from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Autism Center.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center issues its monthly update to the El Nino forecast. A weak El Nino started in March prompting an advisory to be issued. The July update showed it strengthening and likely lasting into spring of next year. El Nino events have warmer water temperatures in the Pacific Ocean. It typically brings stronger winds over the Atlantic which reduces the number of tropical systems with the winter months typically colder with above average precipitation for the east coast.

Kentland Farm is best known for providing fresh produce to Virginia Tech Dining Halls. Today it holds a Field Day to show off its other research projects including weed management programs and unmanned aircraft. It starts this morning at 9 a.m. Registration is $15.
