Lynchburg man shot in the leg overnight; police investigate

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating after they say a local man was shot in the leg overnight.

Officers say at 11:37 p.m. Wednesday, August 12 they responded to the 1100 block of Wise Street in reference to gunshots being fired.

Upon arrival, police located a man who had an apparent single gunshot wound to the leg.

The man, identified as Eric Payne, 31, was taken to the Lynchburg General Hospital ER and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say Payne was uncooperative during the investigation.

The Lynchburg Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division is currently looking into this case.
