BOTETOURT COUNTY (WSLS 10) -Â A pothole has formed on the bridge of Interstate-81 that crosses over Route 220 at exit 150 (Troutville), according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
An emergency repair is in process and will impact traffic throughout the day, including the afternoon commute. Lane closures will be in place and ramps will be impacted.

The right lane of southbound Interstate-81 in Botetourt County beginning at mile marker 150.3 is closed. VDOT says this lane closure will cause congestion and delays on the ramp from northbound Route 220 onto southbound I-81 and the exit ramp from I-81 southbound onto northbound Route 220.
Traffic will be delayed entering I-81 southbound from Route 220 southbound toward Roanoke. A right lane closure is in place on Route 220 northbound underneath the bridge to perform repairs. This closure will impact traffic entering I-81 southbound toward Roanoke.
Traffic will need to pay close attention to signage and traffic control efforts through the interchange.
Message boards will be in place to assist traffic. Drivers should expect significant delays in the area and seek alternate routes.
These lane closures will be in place throughout the day Thursday and the work is very likely to impact the afternoon commute. Estimated time for all lanes to re-open is 10 p.m. Thursday.
