BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10 SPORTS) - Richlands High school graduate Thad Wells took over the reigns of the Bruins program after long-time head coach Dave Crist retired after the 2014 season.

Blacksburg went 7-6 last year with a playoff berth. The team looks to get back to the post-season, but with a new coaching staff, there will be a lot of changes on both sides of the ball.

"Our style is going to be drastically different than a lot of people around here. For what it's worth, I guess be a new kind of Blacksburg and make our own stamp," said Coach Wells.

Starting quarterback, Isaac Johnston is a senior and is already making the adjustment to the new scheme.

"It's a whole new offense, it's a whole new defense, it's a whole new system only way of doing things, it's gone really well. It's a great staff they know exactly what they're doing so they made it really easy for us," Johnston said.

Marquis Jones, who plays on both offense and defense added, "well I say it's all about speed and power, it's about hitting our opponents fast and then keeping on them all during the game so they can never recuperate, so it's a lot of energy."

Blacksburg's season opener is August 28th at Giles.
