In a letter to the media, Vaught said there have been various news stories and comments made in public meetings questioning financial records and accounting for budgeted and non-budgeted funds.
Vaught said his office is aware of those comments and questions, and says he's open to receiving additional information from any credible source which could be seen as improper use of public funds. Vaught said his office's interest is "not in gossip or speculation, but legitimate questionable use of public funds."
Vaught stated in his letter his office would not engage in speculation concerning action until they have the facts.
The commonwealth's attorney is asking anyone with information on this matter to call or email his office (276) 773-2421 or graysoncommonwealth@gmail.com.
