BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10 SPORTS) The battle at Bristol between Virginia Tech and Tennessee is over a year away but Tuesday the Bristol Motor Speedway crew was in Blacksburg with Ty Dillon to check out the Hokies facility. The team was also on hand to show him the ropes. Quarterback Michael Brewer threw him some passes and the defense gave him some pointers. Dillon told the players what it's like in a race car. After his scuffle with Regan Smith last weekend Coach Beamer had a special gift for him--a T-Shirt that said "I Love Regan."

"So John Beilein he's my creative guy up there. I said I need something here for Ty, so that's what he came up with and I thought it was pretty good," explains Coach Frank Beamer.

"He's awesome, that was funny, right away I know about Mike Vick and I know he was number 7, but I'm like 'I got a feeling I know where this is going so that's a pretty funny joke. It's nice to make light of a situation like that. It's fun it's cool to meet him in such a fun way," says Ty Dillon.

The NASCAR XFINITY series returns this weekend in mid-Ohio on a road course. The Hokies continue preparations for their season opener against defending national Champion Ohio State on Labor Day night.
