Valley Stars features a dance competition where participants are paired with local dance instructors to compete and raise money for the Salvation Army turning point, the only secure shelter for victims of domestic violence.
You can vote for your favorite star by making a donation in their red kettle.
Co-chair Melissa Ratcliff-Harper says all proceeds help save lives. Turing point provides legal, health, and informative resources to help victims get back on their feet.
"They essentially go to the ends of the earth to help them," Ratcliff-Harper said. "They help them be safe and help them ultimately become self- sufficient in supporting themselves again. So this event raises money to help be able to do that."
This year WSLS 10's Rachel Lucas will be competing in the event, partnering with dance instructor Dennis Williams of the Sapphire Ballroom in Christiansburg. To keep up with fundraising events for the team, click here and "like" her Facebook page.
While they are waiting to reveal their song and dance-style selection, they promise it will be a "crowd-pleaser."
The event takes place on September 26th at the Jefferson Center in Roanoke.
If you would like to purchase tickets in Rachel and Dennis' name which adds to their total collected, or make any size donation, you can donate online at valleystars.com.
100-percent of all proceeds collected go the Salvation Army Turning Point.
Last years event raised more than $200,000. Ratcliff-Harper says she hopes this years event can at least match that.
